Very simply, I go to the apple icon and click on SLEEP. The iMac takes about 30 seconds before the screen goes black....seems like it busy or something because it will not go to sleep right away.

All applications are closed before going to sleep. I have done a few SECURE EMPTY TRASHes since this all started a few days ago. Still no change.

The computer seems to work fine. It does everything it always did and just a fast but it does not want to go to sleep.

Any ideas?

(before anyone else suggests this, NO, I have not tried giving my iMac cookies and milk. :))

Thank you....it is OS X and it looks like there are a number of more serious sleep issues than what I am experiencing. I feel better to know that this is not the only Mac that won't go to bed. This is not the first time this has happened. It seems to have cleared itself in the past. I wish I knew what was causing it for sure.
