Hey there,

I like to transfer files between my two machines and have always just clicked 'Network' in the finder to see the other machine on my network. I'd then log in with the machines username and password and go about my business.

I've got an iMac and a MBP. My MBP shows up under Network on my iMac, but not vice versa if my machine has been on for a long time.

If I restart, the iMac will show up on my MBP but after a while, it won't.

All the settings are the same on both machines. File sharing is on. Firewall is off.

I should also note that when the machine doesn't show up, I have no problem connecting to the iMac using Go -> Connect to Server - > and then typing in iMac.local.

Any idea what gives?

I have the same issue from time to time, so if anyone has the answer, I'd like to know it too. Something like a 'refresh' button would be great
