I woke up and booted my iMac like any other day, but the computer was stuck on the gray apple screen, I tried resetting the PRAM and booting into safe mode. Nothing worked so I booted into my SL disc to check the drive. Lo and behold, my internal drive is failing. My question is a. how much does apple charge for drive replacements (yeah, I should have bought applecare I know) and b. can apple transfer the data to the new drive? I had a backup, but it got corrupted yesterday, just my luck.

Your TimeMachine backups should be all that you need for restoring data; in fact for restoring everything.
