There a disk stuck in my iMac's drive. Every now and again the machine accesses it and it causes the machine to slow down momentarily and it makes an unbelievably cringe-inducing graunching noise. Is there a way, via a terminal command or something else (using 10.6 on an 8,1 iMac), to make the machine ignore the DVD drive entirely? We had a new drive put in about 18 months ago because the same thing happened and after what that cost to have done, I don't fancy that this time around, especially given the age of the machine now. Possible?
