Hi Guys,

It seems I have the dreaded Nvidia MCP79 chipset in my iMac which chokes my transcend 320 with Sandforce controller to sata1(1.5 Gbps) speeds instead of sata2(3Gps). Scoured macrumors and better part of the web and found no answers :(

Now the question is ...my boot time is almost 43sec with the SSD and BM disk test shows 100/135 Read/Write speed. Is the boot slow? and would I see any real world difference in speed between sata1 & sata2? Based on your advice I can go for a complete swap or with another Transcend drive (340 model) with micron controller or keep this drive.

Thanks in advance

I use an OWC 3G 240GB SSD in a 2009 27" I7 iMac. Getting SATA2 speed.
Boot time is less than 15 seconds.
Black Magic does not give good results for Sandforce controller SSD's like the OWC SSD (compressed vs uncompressed data transfers).
Still shows 150/175 read write speed.

Wow...15 Sec!!! Maybe its your i7 that has the muscle to boot so quickly. Mine is C2D...but 43 sec is still slow :(
