iMac fan

I have a 2011 27" 12gb memory,how can i tell if the fan is working as i never hear it,i only browse the web and look at my photos so not really under strain,the mac does get hot at the top where the vent is,is there an app to test the fan speed,every thing is working fine just curious

Try this one. It should do what you need. To be honest for what you describe as your main use on that machine, I'm not surprised you don't hear it much. It's hardly taxing it.
