Hey guys, running a 2011 imac i7 with Lion 10.7.1
When I put my imac to sleep I can hear the fans going on non stop. They are not going fast.. But they they are as loud as when the computer is on and just idle.
If I touch the imac it is not hot, but I can feel it vibrating.

Any thoughts or solutions?
Thanks.

This started happening for me after the Mavericks update. Resetting the SMC didn't work fork for me. Was hoping to avoid a clean install but might have to resort to one unless anyone else can suggest anything? I've also tried repairing permissions with disc utility.

A sleeping iMac occassionally finishes off background processes, like writing back and forth to memory or the disk. Soon it fully shuts down.

There was a notification that popped up saying something about optimising Mavericks on Tuesday night but the fan seems to be staying on for hours. Have left it on while I'm at work today.

after leaving iMac on all day fans are still running, have reset NVRAM.
Think that leaves a clean install. :(
