imac for zbrush/ digital painting

I want to use zbrush along with my digital painting. I am wondering would an iMac be up to the task and not run too hot while sculpting? I have a 2008 2 x 2.8 quad mac pro but I am thinking of a whole upgrade. Any ideas? Should I hold out another year or two or purchase a new system now?
