Hello everyone,

I have had an iMac for two years now, I got it from a friend who owned it previously. I am not sure what generation iMac it is, but it is the first one with the iSight built in.

The problem I've been having lately is that it freezes up for prolonged periods of time, very often. The problem is not evidently restricted to just one application, I have encountered it when syncing my iPhone, or iPad, and when scanning documents, or surfing the internet using Safari. The system is running Snow Leopard, and I have iLife '09 on it.

I took the machine to the local Apple Store to the Genius bar, and the person there ran a series of tests on it. He encountered a problem with the hard drive which he fixed, but it has not helped my cause any. The problem is now at a point where the iMac is now relegated to a glorified iPhone sync machine, and a tool to stream my AppleTV library from, but nothing else.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to resolve this problem and get this computer back up and running for me again?

Thanks
