hi.

i have an iMac 333 mhz. and i cannot make it boot from the hard disk.

i tried changing the hard drive and RAM. i can boot from the cd, so that should at least say that the RAM is ok, right?

i can initialize the HD and i could start the installation and the installation ends successfully. but after restarting, i get this happy mac/question mark blinking picture.

would love any tips from you guys how to troubleshoot this problem.

On those ancient tray loading imac g3's, i think there is some issue with how you set the hard drive to slave or master settings? Do your homework. I have never opened an old tray loader but check your settings and your cables. What cd could you possibly be booting from, by the way? Panther I hope. Scary cuz you have no firewire.

Yeah I know what your problem is.

I have one as well.

Did you try to do a straight install of osx from cd?

Well you can't do that. You need to upgrade os 9 to version 9.2.2 and then install the update after that which allows you to install osx... then you can put in panther, etc and it'll install and work perfectly
