I have an imac g3 400 DV. it has a dvd rom drive, and it plays dvd movies fine. But whenever I insert a DVD+R writable disc, it instantly ejects it; it doesn't recognize it. the reason I want to use DVD+R is to install Tiger. So... what do I do?

Thanks!

no, i just put a blank disc in to see if it would work before burning it. Maybe that's it... maybe it doesn't do anything with blank discs

okay I burned Tiger onto a DVD+R, and it still ejects it. Whenever I put the dvd into my newer macbook pro, it reads it fine, with the installation program showing. What's the deal?

Thanks!

Get a firewire DVD burner and you will be set. You have a rather rare optical drive in your iMac G3, btw. Rare because it plays dvds, rarer still because it still works after ten years. There is also a rather laborious way to upgrade the dvd rom to a more modern pata optical drive with a lot of fuss and jerry rigging. easier just to get the firewire dvd burner/player. Or copy a Tiger disc to a firewire hd.

Well ugh. I went and bought DVD-R's. Still didn't work! :( why?!

And I realllly don't want to buy another drive... :/
thanks
