iMac G3 Thermal Pads

I recently acquired an iMac G3 (Snow) and I'm planning to fix it up/clean it up for a friend as a gift. It is my understanding that Apple used thermal pads instead of paste on the G3's and that I should replace it with new.

I have two questions:
1) How many/what parts have thermal pads? (I haven't torn it open to see, I only want to take it apart and put it back together once.)
2) What is the thickness of the pads? There are several thicknesses available but I have no idea which one I should get.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If the pad isn't dirty or torn, you can reuse it. They don't have a shorter lifespan like thermal paste.

Good to know. I had just assumed that after 17-ish years they'd need to be replaced. I'll check them out when I crack it open later this week.
