Hey folks,
I have an old iMac g3 as a corner piece in my game room and recently after hooking it back up, found that it will not turn on. When I say will not turn on I mean I have the machine plugged in to a working* outlet and when I hit the power button, nothing happens. When it is plugged in, the power button does not even glow orange. It is as if it is receiving no power at all. And yes I have tried multiple power cords to no avail. The machine was working fine not 2 months ago. So my question is what should I be testing here? I do not even know where to start. Could it be capacitors? A board that needs to be reset? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I have read (and experienced) that the power supply board on these are known for going bad. I have a slot-loading graphite that has been through 2 and it's dead again, and I just haven't bothered to fix it again. Same symptoms as yours. The board is replaceable on its own though without having to replace the entire logic board, or at least, it is on the slot-loading ones. The tray-loaders have a different style board and I cannot comment on those.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have a tray loader. However I’ll figure out how to uninstall the power supply board. Do you know of a way I could test it before replacing?
