I'm considering getting a dell 20" widescreen flat panel LCD to go with my 20" iMac G4. I really love the look of the iMac G4, it still runs great for me, but I always seem wanting more screen space and I really don't want to spend the money on a G5 and 30" screen.
So I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts or personal experience on using the screen spanning hack with an iMac G4. I've read that it works but I'm just wondering how well.
I am worried about resolution mainly, I've heard mixed things on this. Will I be able to get a 1680x1050 resolution on the other monitor as well? And also my iMac has only 64MB VRAM, will this be enough to use two screens of this size or will I say notice a slowdown on the screens because of this and therefor just forget this idea?
