Getting glitches on my iMac G4, specs in the pictures below with distortion examples. It happens when I wake it from sleep or change resolution on the display. Any ideas?

Have you installed anything new lately? I had some image corruption once because I installed something and a reinstall of 10.5.8 fixed it (I was running Leopard).

It could also be heat. With my Quad G5, unless I remove the ATI graphic card drivers I'll get fritzy pixel spots all over the display and the Mac will stop responding to commands. I have not yet gotten to repasting the GPU but I believe it's heat related.

Does this go away after some time?

I have tried to reinstall, it didn't help. It will just sit on that distortion until a restart. I think I may crack the bottom case and re apply the thermal paste and clean out the dust and see if it is the heat like you said.
