What was the year that Imac G4s were first released for sale, and what was the last year that they were made and sold? Also; What is the estimate on how many are still in use? And last: What are some safe updates that you can make to render them faster and better in general? I thank you in advance for your information and any advice you might wish to give!

Browsers built specifically for a G4: TenFourFox or Camino (post what speed your iMac is and we'll tell you which build you need to download)

Play Youtube videos through Mac Tubes

Play downloaded/ripped videos through the G4 Optimized MPlayer (set the preferences exactly as shown)

Those will enhance your browsing and video playing, and all are free.

IMO, the g4 builds of Camino run faster than tenfourfox.

I agree, and Camino has built in adblock and flashblock (although they have to be turned on in the preferences). TenFourFox, since it's Firefox, can do all of the nice plugins, however the more plugins you use, the slower it can run (and some plugins can really slow things down).
