Brother in laws imac g4 laptop does not start up. Is there a way to key command the computer to start up as a hard drive so we can save the data on his desk top?

He of course did not save the disks that came with his computer.

I am starting to have so many problems with my ibook G4, like taking 10 minutes to close an application or the never ending spinning wheel. My ibook is really owned by the school district and this summer we hand in our laptops for new ones, but this time we do not have an option between MAC or PC- just PC with Vista. I am trying to wait patiently for a new update on the 24in imac before I buy an imac for home use- I am a fan of ilife now...

You either have a dying hard drive (not an Apple manufactured part) or not enough memory that you get the spinning beach ball.

Get someone in the district to max out your ram on the iBook.
