Hey guys this is my first post yesterday i bought my first imac 800hz 512mb 60gb for 200 bucks yesterday so i brought it home put my 160 gb loaded up OSX now i wanna upgrade my memory i have alway used pc's so i did some researching and from what i understand mac doesn't use ECC memory correct?? I want to just put 1x 1GB stick of pc 133 but i cannot find the non-ecc and i accidently purchased ECC ram on eBay can someone give me the lowdown with my first mac will it work if i just put the one stick off 1GB PC 133 ECC ?

You know what? I don't know. But what I would do is go to crucial.com and see what type of RAM they say is right for your computer. It should tell you whether it is ECC or not.

right on thank you i guess ill have to sell my stick of 1gb pc 133 i jusr ordered on ebay lol thanks for the help guys

You still might be able to put more memory in it than what it says. When I was looking at upgrading my imac g4 1ghz 17", i read multiple posts saying that even though it says 1 gig total memory that you can actually put more than that with the 1gig sodimm.

Models which use DDR RAM (1ghz +) can use 2gb. Older models with PC133 (700, 800 mhz) can only use 1gb.
