iMac G4 mic vs. iMac G5 mic

I just recently bought the new iMac G5 and noticed that the internal mics quality has dropped from the one in the iMac G4. The G5's mic seems unclear, and has that FAN hissing sound, where the G4's is really clear and somes to record better. did they change the internal mic, or is it just bad positioning?

Bad positioning, it is sharing an enclosure with 3 fans.

It's a shame they put the mic in such a bad place on the iMac G5; mine was completely useless, partly by the angle I had the screen at (almost 90 degrees to the desk) and because the machine can be quite noisy at times.
