I tried to replace my old fan but had some trubble. I also replaced the original HDD with an 2.5" drive. So, it's really quit for now. :) In fact, I wonder, if it's possible to leave the iMac G4 (800MHZ) without a fan, unless I figuered out my problem with the fan connectors. Ok, I know, the fan inside the iMac is not for nothing. But, is there anyone outside, who uses his iMac without a fan?

I wouldn't try it! The iMac G4 already suffered with higher temps then it should have and that one fan is the only thing that kept it from self-destructing!

I have seen people mod their G4 iMacs with external fans to help with additional cooling. I would highly recommend not using it without some sort sort of fan either the internal one or external.

You certainly need a fan. You might have some leg room by slowing it down using a Zalman Fanmate, but I honestly wouldn't bother to try.
