Hello,

I got my hands on two more of these machines. Two of the don't have airport cards in them. I can install them, but was curious, has Apple put out different models of these cards over the years? If so, what it the latest that will run on these machines?

I found this, Apple AirPort 630-2883/C 11Mbps 802.11b Wireless LAN Card, on ebay...is this the latest one that will work?

Thanks again!

Apple has released the original Airport (802.11b 11mbs) and Airport extreme (802.11g 54mbps), I'm pretty sure if your iMac G4 doesn't have built in wireless it's capabilities are only the 802.11b for internal.

That's about as high as you can go with it, since the USB ports are probably USB 1.1, which means they MAX out at 11mbps.

Depending on the speed of your iMac, you'll need a different card. If it is 700mhz or 800mzh you'll need the Original Airport card. If its 1Ghz or 1.25Ghz, you'll need the Airport Extreme card. To install these cards is very easy. All you do is remove the bottom metal plate and put the card in.
