I really like the whole lamp concept of the iMac G4 and I'm pretty bummed that they do not continue to make it. I was wondering if it would be possible and economically worthwhile to get an iLamp cheap on eBay, rip out the guts and upgrade it? Could I take the guts from other computers and piece them together? Or could I just hook up the iLamp to another computer, like a tower or something and use it as a screen?

That is a horrendously difficult project. There is very little room in there, there are major heat and power issues, and LCD connection issues, obviously. The Mini would be the obvious choice as a donor, nothing else has a mobo small enough.

Even accessing the screen to pull a connection out to another computer is a challenge.
