What brand and part # of hard drive does Apple use when they upgrade the iMac G5 early 2008 up to a 1TB. The existing 320GB is a Seagate but I wanted to know the most compatible 1TB since I am upgrading.

There are only two types of HDDs used in Macs: IDE and SATA. I *think* all the PowerPCs had IDEs, so any IDE drive should work. The iMac uses 3.5" drives though.

I would advise just getting an external Firewire drive as if you don't know this much about hard drives, you are going to have a hard time replacing the drive.

2008 iMac G5? Are you sure you don't mean 2005 G5? Or Intel iMac 2008?

G5s were all SATA.
