imac G5 issue

I just installed the update for leopard on my brothers G5, now the finder will not launch and the HD will not pop up on the desktop, and the disk drive is dead as well.

this seems very odd, i was wondering if this is a known issue with a fix or what?

about to downgrade it back to tiger
