Today, I found an Imac g5 1.8ghz, NO ISIGHT. I plug it in and then the chime comes on, the white light goes on, and then 10 seconds after goes off. If I press the button again, it goes into the blinky sleep mode. Not once has the monitor powered on during this process. Fix, anyone?

Pop the rear cover and look at every electrolytic capacitor, little cylindrical devices with shiny tops, on the main board. If any have bulged or burst they must be replaced. For future reliability have them all replaced.

Checked them all, all in great shape! I also replaced the 3 volt battery when I was in there. Still, it is acting as described.
