I saw in the specs of iMac G5 rev A, that only DVD-R is supported. However, I have burned DVD+R discs without any problems.

I´m now going to buy a large quantity of DVDs and the price of +R and-R is the same. I wonder if it is safe to buy the +R and would it be better than the -R? And does the quality of the DVDs differ between manufacturers or is it just standard?

I don´t know much about DVDs but some people argue that +R is better in some way.

Are you using iDVD to make the DVD's? With the newest version that came out in January, it can handle both DVD+R and DVD-R. So you're safe to choose either. I don't know the benefits of either, I think it has something to do with the capability with standard DVD players.
