Whenever I put my iMac to sleep, or if it goes on auto sleep from inactivity it shuts down. I sometimes even have problems getting it to turn back on right away. The normal gong sound will start and then halfway through stop and shut down again! After 15 minutes or so of failed attempts at rebooting it will ususally allow me to turn it back on. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong or even better how I can fix this ? Thanks in advance .

I had the same sleep problem (although no problem starting up again). Reinstalling the OS fixed it.

Best wishes.

I had the EXACT same problem. It was a bad power supply. If your iMac is a rev. A it make be covered by a recall as mine was. Look into it on apple.com
