My iMac G5 runs close to 165 degrees fahrenheit in hard use and about 145 when idle. The memory controller can get up to 175. The room temp is always about 70. Is this normal? Can anyone with an iMac G5 post some of their temps? I have a 1.6 PowerMac at work that rarely runs hotter than 110.

Even on a hot day, my 1.8GHz iMac G5 doesn't get much above 70°C (160°F or so) according to iStat nano. That's even when the temperature is really quite hot and the machine is working really hard. :)

Depends what model you have. The iSight iMac usually runs cooler..between 120 and 160

The ones without are completely different inside... like mine... so it can get up to 180 if im doing some high-cpu tasks.

But normal is around 160 or so.

Keep in mind there's been a design fault with the iMac G5's without iSight.. the air hole fan vent for the CPU gets clogged with dust and it makes it run hot...even random sleeps as a safety feature if it gets too hot.
