Hi there
I have connected my iMac up to a PA and am experiencing some sound issues coming from the headphones output.

As well as hearing the song playing through the PA there is a loud hum/buzz coming through the PA as well and when I run the mouse over the apps in the dock at the bottom of the screen I can hear another buzz noise when hovering over and going from one app to the next in the dock.
This makes me think it is NOT the cables I'm using although I could be wrong.

I have used the following cable

coming out of the back of the headphones socket to split the signal into left and right channels.

The left channel then uses the following convertor
3.5mm Mono Jack Socket to 6.35mm Mono 1/4" Jack Plug

followed by
6.35mm 1/4 Jack MONO Female Socket to 6.35mm 1/4 Jack MONO Female Socket

followed by a guitar cable

which then plugs into the mixer of the PA.

The Right channel for now I am not connecting to anything, but will eventually be connected to an electronic drum kit module like a Yamaha Dtsxpress 3

I do not experience this problem using the exact same lead set up when I connect in exactly the same way using an iPod instead of of the iMac.

Nor do I experience this problem with my 2.1 speaker set up connected to the headphone socket of the iMac that I use daily. (using the supplied stereo jack lead from the 2.1 speaker set up)

Any ideas what is causing this issue and how to fix it?
Please do not ask why I am using this hodge-podge of leads/convertors as I could not buy THE EXACT cable I needed (and yes I am aware I could make the lead myself).

Thanks!
