iMac HD failed, replaced now iTunes won't see iPods

My iMac HD recently failed, I replaced it with a new one. Recovered my system with time Machine. Now iTunes won't see my iPods. I managed to get a classic seen, so that one is fine. I do not recall how I made that happen because in my frustration I was trying, toggling, pulling, pressing all kinds of things and walla it worked.

Next in line was my iPod touch 2G. For the life of me I cannot get iTunes to see it. My Touch sees my library but not the other way around.

Any suggestions?

I have not been able to make any progress with my iPod Touch being seen by iTunes yet. Just baffles me.
