iMac HD Swap

I am having problems with the screen of my Graphite iMac (400Mhz) so I am thinking of taking a freind up on an offer of a newer Graphite iMac, with the snow coloured power button, i think it runs at 500Mhz. Is it possible to straight switch the HD drives so I dont have to install OSX etc. into the new one?
