I know there are a lot of these kinds of threads floating around here and I don't usually post although I have been a long time reader - I'll get to the point.
I'm in the market for a new computer. Currently I have a 2013 15" MacBook Pro 2.7ghz i7 quad with 16gb. My wife and I have been sharing this computer for a while. We're in the market to buy a new computer and we can't decide. We use it mostly for photography, 2d graphic work, internet and general file management and life tasks.
I have been looking at a mid range 27" iMac, a new MacMini with the 5K LG display, a mid range new 15" MacBook Pro, and 2 x 11" iPad Pros (one for each of us). We have a general budget of $3,000 and all the choices listed here fit within that. We would keep our current MBP for as long as we can.
I can see pro's and con's for each of the choices and I think all would accommodate what we need. I would have thought the iMac would be a no brainer but with is being 1.5 years old maybe the iPad will work for a few years until a new one comes out. I like the idea of the Mini but the added display cost makes it less of a deal than the iMac (even with older hardware). I'm looking forward to people suggestions.
