Is it possible to get video out from an external monitor, that is already acting as my 2nd monitor on an iMac?

I need to get what is on the 2nd display to show up on a TV that is somehow connected to the 2nd display.

Is this possible?

I think you can do this by using a splitter cable to attach both the TV and the second monitor, as long as they both support the same resolution (i.e. 1080p).

You could also use an AppleTV with AirPlay to mirror your screen on your TV.

If I were to say, use an iMac as a 2nd monitor, would I be able to connect a thunderbolt to DVI, then DVI to a Black Magic box that converts it into a coaxial video signal that connects to the TV? This is what I'm hoping I can do.
