Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4885 and scroll down to iMac. It says Mid and Late iMac 2011

"iMac (Mid 2011 and Late 2011)"

Yep, CheesePuff is correct, Late-2011 refers to the 21" EDU model. Even the technician guide refers to it as the late 2011. Not something Apple would embellish like that.
If the specs state it can operate two Thunderbolt Displays then apparently it can; theyre probably basing the specs on the graphics cards - or a possibly adapter -- since it is not 100% clear.
 
Apple already removed the reference to the Late-2011 iMac...

I think it was a simple error...

Got my Mid-2011 iMac in the the mail...
 
The above referenced SP article (SP634) still calls it the Late 2011...Very mid-leading naming for it, as the specs are below the Mid 2011. They should add something about EDU in the name to avoid confusion.

Ah well, life goes on!
