iMac (Late 2012) Speaker Problem?

I just received my new 21.5" iMac, and it seems that there is an issue with the left speaker being softer than the right, to the point where it sounds imbalanced and distracting to the ear. Not only do the internal speakers do this, but any external speakers do as well. I've checked the balance and there's nothing wrong. Is anyone else noticing this or know what could be causing it?

That sounds odd, especially since you say the headphone jack does the same. What's your source material?
