hi guys I have the above iMac

and for some odd reason its not turning on

the 1st diagnostic light is lit.

but the 2nd one is blinking every second or so and there is a noise as if the hard drive is trying to start.

ive tried leaving it unplugged for a while ive tried plugging it in and holding the power button down but no change so far.

it did this once before then booted in the middle of the night and worked perfectly for a few days then we had a storm so I shut it down. and now it won't do anything
but yet my second machine that's identical is working fine connected to all the same socket and everything.

thanks for any help.

Does it have a fusion drive?
If so, could the HDD portion of the fusion drive be failing?
Hi thanks for the reply

It does have a fusion drive but the hard drive was just replaced with a new apple drive I rebuilt the fusion reinstalled and all was ok.

And then I shut it down due to a local storm and now it won’t power back on.

Could the drive be the problem ?

Before spending too much more money on it...
... it's 9 years old now.
Would the money spent go better towards a replacement?

I get your point it’s just a shame to waste such a great display it’s physical condition is as new.

I suppose I could test another PSU and see how I go ?

hi again I dunno if this is a coincidence but I pulled out two sticks of ram and applied power and the Mac fired up

but ive noticed now that the blade part of my fusion drive is no longer showing.

so I have no bootable OS

can the drive fail just like that ?

thanks
