iMac late 2015 updates and security

One of my first posts - I hope you can help me!

A friend has an iMac late 2015 21" Retina - This obviously doesn't receive any Mac OS updates and they are concerned about security especially around online banking.

They've asked in particular if some software called "Intego" Would help?

I'm assuming it's this software - https://antivirus.intego.com

I don't think it will help much, it's more around browser security isn't it?

Would the best option to be purchasing a new Mac mini M4 and using the iMac as a screen (Target Mode)?

That iMac model does not support Target Display Mode

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

Target display mode is a feature available with certain older Mac models.

Update to latest macOS possible and use Google Chrome or FireFox and it will be just fine.
