I have read the forums about burn in on the iMac. I want to download some games but that may ate up to 5 hours. How do I do this without getting burn in or image retention?

I thought if my iMac would burn in it would burn in a screen saver as well? Which screen saver would be best? A solid color??? Thanks.

Don't think it is burn in, that's from the old tube days or plasma displays.
Any screensaver does the job as long as it is continuously changing.

Control + Shift + Eject

Does this work on an iMac, it blanks the display but I am pretty sure the iMac can't be dimmed to 100%.

It turns the whole screen off including backlight. works on my 2011.

On my old 2009 iMac you could hear the fan slow down a bit as the graphics card was not in use.

much more power efficient that a screensaver too.

I agree it is much better than a screensaver, there were plenty of people here with iMacs asking that question and the answer was always you can't, this tip is a good tip if it works on all iMacs, thanks for this.
(I don't have an iMac myself but good to know)
