I'm trying to test my ram on my new 2012 imac, and using the AHT. But during the test the fans start to spin really loud. They never were like this when I was gaming or doing anything intensive. I think I read on cnet or somewhere it's normal but I can't find that link anymore. Is this normal?

Yes...The whole idea of the AHT is to test the components in your Mac...It's simply running them up and is completely normal.

Even if they're running the majority of the test? I just haven't had to run an AHT on a computer in awhile so I don't remember. Just want to be sure. Thanks.

Edit: btw, running extended test.

My new iMac has just arrived and I think it will be a good idea to check with the AHT. Can you tell me how to do this test? Is some kind of application?

Thanks!
