Hi,

I'm on my second iMac M1 2021 7 core.

The first one was quiet as a mouse, even during gaming. My new one has a lot of noise from the fan when gaming, and I wonder if something is wrong with it, and I should turn it in for repair? It's still under warranty.

Does your iMacs have the same issue?

My 8 core M1 is completely silent. I don't play games, and the fans have only spun up 1-2 times since I got the machine, but when they did they sounded like a whoosh. I can't speak to the 7 core model. If I heard that sound coming from my machine I would be alarmed.

Open Activity Monitor. If all your high-performance cpu cores are utilized for a long time, this kind of fan noise is absolutely normal.
Ok, thanks. Seems like it's the GPU-load that causes the noise...

I suppose I'll just have to live with that, if it's not an error. Strange, though, why my previous machine was quiet during gaming
