Imac made alarm noise

So basically my imac was in sleep mode and all of sudden began making an alarm noise which involved 3 beeps a pause and then 3 beeps again and so on until I turned it off by the power button. The screen stayed black while this was happening even when I pressed on the keyboard and mouse. Anybody know what this noise was or meant?

RAM issue?

Hi,

3 Beeps then a pause then 3 beeps, usually, means a RAM issue. Perhaps you could try swapping the RAM chips in and out of the Mac to see if that cures the issue.
