I've noticed that my iMac occasionally makes this rather odd hissing sound occasionally. It usually happens when I stop playing a song(or any audio for that matter) and in order to make it stop I have to either raise, lower or mute the volume. The sound reminds me of something you'd hear during a hearing test only higher pitched and not as loud. It's an early 2009 24" iMac for what it's worth, anyone else experienced this issue before?
