I need a Mac that's stronger than an iMac but not as small/compact/expensive. Something that can run an i5 that doesn't come with the glamourus screen but will have a decent video processor.

Like a Mac Mini+ or something...:)

Am I the only one who feels there is a voide between the desktops?

The ever elusive "xMac" as it is sometimes called. Apple refuses to make one, unfortunate for many who may prefer iMac-like specs in a tower form factor.

They have made Mac mini with discrete GPUs on again off again in the past. search for a used or refurb 2011 Mac mini. The upgraded model could be had with and i5 or i7, Thunderbolt and an ATI GPU.

Good tip. And for the above poster, I can't afford a Mac Pro. I can barely afford the nicer iMac's :( I might have to give up something small to afford it, like smoking, or kids...yeah I'll give up kids/.
