iMac memory - will it work in MacBook?

Evening all. Another stupid question, be gentle with me:

My iMac came with 2MB (2 x 1) memory last year (didn't know about Crucial, OWC, etc, then ). I've just ordered 2 x 2MB for it - will the 2 x 1MB that I take out work in the MacBook I bought last month?
