Ok so I'm upgrading my MacBook pro mid 2010 ram to 8GB and now since I'm going to have 2x2GB 1033 MHz extra ram sticks left could I put them into my iMac which has 2 extra slots left but the other slots have 2x2GB sticks but their 1333 MHz sticks. Would it even work?

Lets say it does work would it still be worth even putting this in to get 4 extra GB's? I heard that the 1333 MHz sticks would be lowered to 1033 MHz to match the other extra ram sticks. Is this true?

You can buy 8GB of the correct RAM for your iMac for only $48.99 from OWC, why not take the smart route and install the correct RAM for you system? If you shop you may even find it for less. At best, if your MBP RAM will work it will slow down the iMac because all the RAM will clock at 1033 MHz.

Just tripled the memory in my iMac for just over $40 from Amazon. Took me about 5 minutes to add the 8GB of memory. It was really easy. For $40 and in 5 minutes I upgraded my iMac from 4GB RAM to 12.
