Hi all.
I recently returned back to a real mac having purchased an iMac 27 i5 that had recently had an unsuccesful install of an SSD. This has left the machine with some brutal internal damage including the usual LVDS connection being damaged on the logic board.
As the price was right I factored in another logic board and ordered one straight away. Fitted in and ... nothing. A perfect chime, 3 LEDs but nothing suggesting communication with LCD. I tried angling a light to view anything on the LCD but I cannot see anything.
I am now about to replace the inverter/LCD board having noticed some pretty brutal damage on this too. The cable that comes from the LCD (this is a 2 cable wire rather than the ribbon cable I expected) is also damaged but I thought this was only for LCD temperature (I may be of course wrong).
My question (eventually) - Is there a particular cable or something I should be looking at that tells the screen it is time to switch on. Im am wondering if the previous owner has damaged the cable next to the LVDS - (Display Screen Power cable?)
Any ideas greatly welcomed. I have replaced the LVDS cable as it was chewed up and seemed like a good idea.
Thank you.
Alan
