Greetings one and all. I am pulling what little hair that I've got out....

I'm an old geezer, I just want to connect an external monitor to my mid 2011 iMac. (OK, it's old, but then so am I. I'm really struggling to accomplish this.

The monitor has a DVI input and my iMac has a Thunderbolt socket.

I just want know what cables I need.

Advice warmly received.

Thanks Austen

You should be able to use a Mini Display Port to DVI cable. The Thunderbolt output on your iMac is compatible with Mini Display Port. You can buy that cable/adapter either from Amazon or Monoprice.

Hi chscag - You're the man! I managed to get hold of the cable that you suggested, hooked it up, checked on Sys Profile to detect display - no joy.... then pushed the Thunderbolt connection in properly and Hey Ho! It all works as expected. Thanks
