I have a mac mini that gets about 65Mbps on an 802.11n Airport Extreme running at 5Ghz.

My iMac gets about 40Mbps but only at 2.4Ghz (I have a dual radio Airport Extreme).

When I go 2.4Ghz on the mini, I get about 24Mbps.

When I go 5Ghz on the iMac, I get about 14Mbps.

I have a 2007-era imac (24" 2.4Ghz) and the mini was the "newest" model until this week when Apple announced the new models.

I noticed the firmware version of the Airport Extreme card in the mini is (Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.91.21) and on the iMac, it is Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.91.19). The computers are a similar distance from the AEBS.

I cannot find a firmware update for the iMac to bring it to the same level as the mini to see if that gets the two boxes similar results on bandwidth.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
