Apple has quoted me $300 for a fix. I've read a while ago of other ways to be able to play sound from the iMac...like some sort of wireless speaker? I'm not really sure, but should I just spend the 300 or are there alternatives to get out sound of the iMac?

Yeah there are many other ways.

1 - replace the affected part yourself: ifixit.com have detailed guides and you probably will spend way less than what's quoted.
2 - USB speakers
3 - Bluetooth speakers

Hey, so initially Apple thought it was a $50 fix. Apparently there is some other part that was also damaged.

Basically I was taking out my Apple earpods and the metal piece that attaches to the port was stuck...I took out the headphone but the metal piece is still in there.
