By this I mean the disc is not even able to be pushed into the drive. I don't have any other discs currently inserted either. Any ideas?

Depends on how far in it goes. If it's blocked right at the slot, then the drive thinks there's a disk in it. If it's blocked about halfway, then the spindle is stuck up.

Either way, it's likely going to involve taking the machine apart and fiddling with the optical drive while it's running in order to try to get it to reset.
